In a whirlwind tour across the United States, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reinforced the deepening ties between India and America while addressing a massive gathering of the Indian diaspora at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, on September 22, 2024. He affectionately called them “Rashtradoots” or ambassadors of the nation, emphasizing their unparalleled contributions in bolstering India's image and strengthening the India-US partnership. "Wherever I go in the world, every leader praises the Indian diaspora. Your skill, talent, and commitment have no competition," he said, acknowledging the diaspora’s role as the backbone of India’s global soft power.

Strengthening India-US Ties Through AI: "American-Indian Spirit"

A focal point of Modi's speech was his emphasis on what he called the "American-Indian spirit," rebranding AI to mean more than just artificial intelligence. He emphasized that the Indian diaspora, particularly in the U.S., is at the forefront of advancements in technology, especially in fields like artificial intelligence, research, and innovation. Prior to the Sep 22nd event, Modi attended the Quad Summit in Delaware on September 21 where Modi stressed that the India-US alliance and the Quad group were "forces for global good." 

Alongside US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Modi reiterated India’s commitment to collaborating on security, economic development, and climate resilience within the Indo-Pacific region.
