Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ministry of Tourism India has launched the “Chalo India” campaign along with the global Indian diaspora to involve overseas Indians in promoting tourism in the country along with inaugurating a series of tourism-related projects in India.
Based on the “Chalo India” campaign, Prime Minister Modi urges the Indian diaspora members to become ambassadors of India and encourage five of their non-Indian friends to travel to India and explore the rich culture and beauty of the country.
There is no upper limit on the number of foreign friends a diaspora member can encourage to travel to India.
The Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign is also simultaneously being launched in all Indian embassies and high commissions abroad.

PM Modi is also launching multiple projects related to the tourism sector worth over Rs 1,400 crore under Swadesh Darshan and Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive schemes, including the project for Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine in the city. He will also launch the Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice Tourist Destination Poll and announce tourist destinations selected under Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBDD) scheme.
The PM will announce 42 tourist destinations under the CBDD scheme, announced during the Union Budget 2023-24. The 42 destinations have been identified in four categories –16 in culture and heritage destination; 11 in spiritual destination; 10 in eco-tourism and Amrit Dharohar; and five in vibrant village.
To enable this vision, Ministry of Tourism as launched a portal NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India) and members of the Indian Diaspora to register, along with the contact details, and details of the people will be nominating.

To nominate 5 of their non-Indian friends, a member of the Indian Diaspora can register through this portal through following five steps:
- Step 1: Create an account on the Chalo India website (www.chaloindia.gov.in)
- Step 2: Receive codes
- Step 3: Share details of your foreign friends, whom you want to invite to India
- Step 4: Encourage your friends to travel to India through photos & videos of Incredible India
