Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with enthusiasm by members of the Indian diaspora as he arrived in Poland on Monday, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years. The visit, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland, has been widely anticipated by the Indian community in Warsaw.

As the Prime Minister touched down in Warsaw, he was met with cheers of "Modi, Modi" from the crowd, many of whom waved Indian flags and chanted patriotic slogans. The warmth of the reception was evident as Mr. Modi mingled with the crowd, shaking hands and sharing smiles. The Prime Minister also took time to interact with children, further endearing himself to the gathered community.

He praised the performers and posed for photographs with them, adding a personal touch to the proceedings. Among the diaspora, Priyanka Patel, a Warsaw resident, expressed her delight after Mr. Modi signed a photograph she had brought of him with his mother. "I am very happy. He signed the photo and also accepted my Rakhi," she shared.

In a post on social media platform X, Mr. Modi expressed his optimism about the visit, stating, "Landed in Poland. Looking forward to the various programmes here. This visit will add momentum to the India-Poland friendship and benefit the people of our nations."

The visit is significant as India and Poland commemorate seven decades of diplomatic ties. The Ministry of External Affairs' spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, underscored the importance of this trip, noting the historical context and the potential for deepening bilateral relations.

Over the course of his two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet with his Polish counterpart and the President, engaging in discussions aimed at bolstering ties between the two nations. He will also lay a wreath at the memorial of the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, a poignant tribute that underscores the historical connections between India and Poland. Additionally, Mr. Modi will visit the monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino, commemorating the valor of the Second Polish Corps during World War II.

Following his engagements in Poland, Prime Minister Modi is set to travel to Ukraine, marking yet another historic first as he becomes the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country. This visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening India's diplomatic outreach in Europe.

As the Indian community in Warsaw continues to celebrate this landmark visit, many expressed their hopes that it will pave the way for stronger economic and cultural ties between India and Poland. Rajpal Sabnani, a local resident, voiced the collective sentiment: "This is an important visit that will improve India-Poland relations and help bring investments to India from Poland."
